Something we didn't consider. Which version of fpc are you using? (check 
with fpc -? ).

I'm using fpc 2.4.4 [2011/09/28], and not svn fpc, because I prefer 
using a stable compiler when testing new and possibly unstable widgesets.

I tried to corrupt a font file, just opening it in a text editor, and 
inserting a few characters at random, but still I get no errors.
