Just a guess, but isn't the default compiler behavior to use cr-lf
terminated strings?  Maybe the method you're using isn't in sync with this.
 Especially if it's working for Michael VC.  You don't you try both
compiler switches (unix and dos string termination modes) and see what
happens.
