One additional thing you can do is create a virtual account on the server machine which
is subscribed as a submitter to the list; Then create a small web form that
allows people to pose questions without being subscribed; send the mail as
coming from the virtual address, and include their original address in the
mail so people can reply to them directly.

Of course link the virtual account's mailbox to /dev/null...
