The CD bootable Knoppix distro would provide a convenient (and very
complete) KDE testbed without having to install it on your system. When
you're ready to run test code, drop in the CD, reboot and Knoppix will
configure itself and read-only mount all the hard drive partitions it
can find. It makes an excellent rescue disk as well.
