I'm sure that adding a button to choose a set of options would solve  
your problem, but I seriously doubt that we can agree on 'common'  
predefined sets.
For example should 'no automatism - plain editor' deactivate code  
templates or not.

Feel free to begin a thread to discuss such sets.
