All our servers have the following setup that works very well for us: An<br>
OS drive (only contains the OS - in our case Linux), and all data is<br>
stored on a separate RAID disk set (two or more drives with mirroring<br>
enabled). Replacing/Reinstalling the OS takes 30 minutes, restoring<br>
config files takes <5 minutes. A faulty RAID disk is simply a swap-out<br>
and it rebuilds itself. Each Friday one RAID disk gets swapped with an<br>
off-site spare disk. You only need to loose data once, then you learn to<br>
protect it like crazy. ;-)<br></blockquote><div><br>Raid is not a backup, it can still screw everything up. If you have invalid buffer content, it will just be copied to all of the other disks.<br>For storage you have other types to work with such as NAS and SAN.<br>
