<p>There are several ways to do it. On Linux you can use V4L, on windows there are VFW or DirectShow (and more). I have even bindings to OpenCV which provide access. My plan has always been to create a plugable crossplatform library, but so far I have not had the time yet. If you want we can discuss offline.</p>
