If all the path's are relative to some base directory (or other ones),
and the user keeps the same directory structure as in CVS, then it
shouldn't be a problem I thought.

I think the makefiles in CVS are almost (but not all) up to date. Maybe
if that's fixed then new joiners wouldn't have any problem compiling
the whole stuff.  And if that goes smoothly, then they'll like lazarus,
and they'll continue using it, and lazarus will be a great success ;-)
