Also, this should allow for turning on debug for a short section of code,
then turning it back off, which should make it easier to find bugs that
occur because of things like race conditions and so forth.

P.S. "... and so forth." reminds me, has anyone ever attempted a RAD
environment for Forth?  Now there is a language which was almost taylor
made for event driven programming.  Even though it is one of those things
that has all of the dangers of C and all of the readability of Hungarian
translated to Japanese then to English ;^)
