Why don't you use GTKShEdit?
Course, it is not lcl-orientated, but it is quick enough to work (at
least, your swedit doesn't seem to be usefull because of slowness).
GtkSHEdit has a bug, which disables enter button at all. Yesterday I
succseefully fixed it, but (of course) didn't publish it. I've maid class,
which is responsible for creating new
shedit window (destroing doesn't seems to work properly), which provides
access to TTextDoc class. So, it might be usefull for lazarus. As lazarus
has gtk-interface, shedit doesn't need any initialization/finalization.
As for me, I'm planning to create usefull, stable IDE for FPC for Linux.
It might include my fd2lcl.
