[lazarus] cvs problems

When trying to use cvs on WIN 98 I get the following problems :

C:\WINDOWS>cd\pp\source\lazarus

C:\pp\source\lazarus>SET CVSROOT=:pserver:cvs at cvs.freepascal.org:/FPC/CVS


C:\pp\source\lazarus>cvs login
(Logging in to cvs at cvs.freepascal.org)
CVS.EXE [login aborted]: could not find out home directory


I am using Zone Alarm as a firewall, but that does not appear to be stopping access.

Anyone any ideas?
