[lazarus] TMenuItem radioitem weird activity

Upon opening my application my radio item's trigger all their click events - unfortunately it happens after the form's OnShow event, which is where I want to load and display a default from.

Am I doing something wrong?  All I did was create the radio group and set radioitem=true on each of the TMenuItems (and match the groupindex).  I try to go and set the .Checked property during the OnShow event for the form, and it's overriden afterwards.

I'm creating and setting the menus in the OnCreate event, so it's not the timing of that...

Any ideas?
