[lazarus] From the borland NGs

Hi,

This is from the borland NG, cppbuilder.non-technical, reliablity = 0%
;). Especially, the second and third paragraph could maybe cheer up some.

----

I just remember another point he made: He is underwhelmed by Qt and sees
it as buggy. He thinks its set of controls are sparse and for his own
Linux port he wrote replacement controls for a lot of what Qt does. He
thinks CLX is unfinished too.

I asked him if he thought Borland could write a port of VCL to Linux and
he said sure. From his own experience writing pieces of stuff that
replaced CLX/Qt pieces he didn't think it was a huge job. He agreed that
it would have been far better to do so since Windows is the main
platform and lots of existing source code was written to VCL.

I wonder what the market would be like for a VCL clone for Linux/Unix.
Maybe Borland would buy it if someone wrote one. Look, if VCL is going
to be around and used for years to come then there will be a lot of
people wanting to easily port their VCL apps to Linux.

----

Regards,

Micha.
