[Lazarus] Why TDateEdit is no more published?

I presume Salvatore means why is  TDateEdit.date not published ?

In which case, I agree with him.  I can see reasons why it would not 
normally need to be published, but for one thing not publishing it means 
the date can't be easily saved using a TXMLPropStorage, as that seems to 
only access published Properties.  I tried to save the date using 
OnSave/OnRestoreProperties handlers, but:

1)  It is not as convenient
2)  I can't get it to work anyway!
