I *only* use the GTK1 IDE and I have never found any issues with
copy+paste - to or from other applications. How can I reproduce this
issue?

BTW:
Do you know that X Window has two copy & paste methods.
* One is a clipboard like you get in Windows. You make a selection and
then use a Copy+Paste function from a menu or keyboard shortcut.
* The other (original) method is called X Selections.  Simply select
the text then go to another application (without closing the one
that's got the selected text) and then click the 3rd (middle) mouse
button.

I tend to use the latter option more often in X11 applications. It's
just quicker for me. :-)
