I cannot believe that either. Maybe you are the only one having these 
problems.

For what it is worth the Lazarus snapshots are build on Mac OS X 10.4 
computers.

make bigide in the lazarus directory does the main work, for exact 
details, see the scripts in  tools/install/macosx

Alternatively you may try to use fink (http://www.finkproject.org/), 
which is supposed to handle these kind of dependencies. To quote a Mac 
user on IRC:
> "fink install lazarus-aqua" should do the complete trick including fpc and fpc-sources
