I have the Java SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_03-b05) installed.
 Using Ubuntu Linux, I installed it via apt-get.

I then downloaded the swingdemoapp.jar file and ran it via the command line.

  $>  java -jar swingdemoapp.jar
