Well just imagine how far and how stable Lazarus & LCL could have been
if there was only one widgetset everybody developed on. The speed at
which MSEgui and fpGUI progress (and each only having one developer)
is testament to that.

But that's a whole other argument I do not want to restart again -
it's done and dusted.

My issue now is stopping unnecessary bad publicity for Lazarus, and I
believe moving to v1.0 will help in that regard.
