Just to elaborate.  If you do this:

dpkg-query -L mingw32-binutils | grep as

You'll see this (hopefully):


By default, the Makefile uses
BINUTILSPREFIX=$(CPU_TARGET)-$(OS_TARGET)-.  So, for x86 you can pass
BINUTILSPREFIX=i586-mingw32msvc- to make so that it finds the correct
