Not every program needs this.  It's a specific use case.  Even word
processing formats are now based on xml that's compressed.  If you
don't need the speed, stick with human readable formats.

_Everyone_ can roll their own, and we all have.  But it's not going to
be fast, reliable and robust.  Some people will just never learn,
maybe _they_ need a change of career.
