I don't thing thats the problem. I am using a 2.5.1 version that is a 
few month old. very similar to 2.4.4 or.5

Compile you laz with debug -g -g- info, and either with -WC (console) or 
run with --debug-log=file

then you may get a stacktrace.

or run lazarus.new.exe, in the debugger, in lazarus itself.
