Although slightly off-topic, but SVN's revert is not really clean. It 
reverts files it knows, but it doesn't remove unknown files. I'm not 
aware of an SVN equivalent of Mercurial's purge (for example).
So yes, a clean checkout CAN make sense sometimes.
