If there is a difference it will be in the rtl/ rtl/os and compiler/ dir

And if there is a difference is related to cross-architecture
crosscompiling.  It could be that the makefiles construct their own ppc<x>
names though.

If you are really interested, search if -P is ever passed to FPC, in any
makefile. Since that param only works for fpc.exe and not for ppc386.exe
