OK, my apologies. It's just that if I run the 'lsb_release' command on
it's own with no parameters, I too get useless information - even from
Ubuntu 8.04

 $ lsb_release
No LSB modules are available.

.... and everybody (including you) replied quoting that 'lsb_release'
(without parameters) doesn't return usable results.
