Thanks for the link, some interesting items listed there.

Then again, there are so many conflicting links on the internet. Even 
many of the references listed on the MySQL wikipedia page doesn't 
describe/reference the claims they make. :-)

That's the internet for you! Even a 5-year old could be writing those 
web pages - we would never know. :)

Anyway, there are some ex-Google employees that mention that Google Ads 
used to use MySQL, then switched to something proprietary (alas with 
initial speed problems), so now it is unclear what Google actually uses 
for Google Ads.

I'm still searching for the link regarding the DB backend for Google's 
Gmail and lots of Facebook content storage. I remember being very 
interested in this "new database engine" they talked about, but 
remembered that they did mentioned it was only good for certain types of 
data.
