Yes, with some simple tweaks. But I am now using a USB Ethernet adapter
because I didn't have enough time to do those tweaks. But there is a lot
of user reports and guides on how to do it on the Internet.

Yes. In fact most users boot from it in order to be able to keep the
original SSD contents.
I've got Ubuntu working fine on the AC100, I just need to get the
(cross-)compile working now.
