[Lazarus] Object detection

What you need is called image segmentation. 

I have a book called "Image processing" and it's from the dutch publisher sybex (ISBN:9051603150). The Dutch version I have is translated from French asaik. In this book all examples are written in Pascal. Perhaps you can find an English version? If not I can send you my copy.
