[Lazarus] Are there some reasons why TProcess commands do not terminate quickly?

When I run some Windows commands on the Command Prompt they take a short
time, but when I run them with TProcess they take much longer and sometimes
they don't terminate at all.

Are there some extra parameters to be passed to TProcess to avoid these
problems?

Could have something to do with whether the Windows programs are sending
output to stderr or stdout or something similar?
