I tested converting old ANSI-Delphi code to UTF-8 Lazarus and found 
these issues.

My colleagues ported old ANSI-Delphi stuff to Unicode Delphi and lost a 
lot of hair.

So I am sure that modifying code the other way round will not be much 
easier.
