[Lazarus] What is Lazarus lacking to make a version 1 ?

As I understand it Lazarus is in beta and will be until there is a release
1.xx instead of all the 0.xx releases.

Why is Lazarus not ready to have a non beta release. Is there a likely
timeline. Will there ever be a non beta release.
It seems like a very good product already so I am just wondering what the
thinking is
