[Lazarus] Please define "delphi compatibility"

Well, FPC/Lazarus is the best cross-platform programming language.
I myself am currently staking my career on this.

And there really are no egos involved in its development.

However, it is held dear by those that develop it, and it is ferociously 
defended from critique. This is what you observe on the mailing lists.
By itself, this can be considered a sign that it will live for a long time
still :)
