Yes, latency on an embedded device typically translates to diminished 
cpu performance and battery life. Asynchronous sockets and app logic 
methodology is best.  Restful state is important especially for embedded 
apps.  There should be a sample socket client with app logic developed 
to show how to do this stuff on embedded systems.
