Found your userpage , read it with great interest.
Your experience with Lazarus sounds fimiliar to me ( Delphi 5, Delphi 
2010 <-- horrible ) and now Lazarus, that fits my needs!

Perhaps it can become a part of FreePascal, that is missing such a 
function.
