What kind of "objects" should that be?

Window managers do not care about widgets, these reside in a widgetset 
layer between the application and window manager. A window manager only 
splits up the available desktop extent, into application specific 
windows, and identifies the application that has to receive events 
(mouse, touchpad...) and paint the window interior (client area).
