No problem. The current D7 code does this,anyway, it just converts 
to/from ANSI with the appropriate code page,and now would need to 
convert to/from UTF8 .

Am I correct assuming that "The new UTF-8 mode" is this 
http://wiki.freepascal.org/Better_Unicode_Support_in_Lazarus  ?

We will try to find out if this mode or the "old" is more suitable for 
the task in question.
