To me it is unclear wether "your example" refers to Graeme or to me.
Either way both of us simply used a plain fpc console application,
compiled on commandline with fpc.

I was wondering why DefaultSystemCodepage would return CP_ACP on
Graemes FreeBsd with an UTF8 locale?
