[Lazarus] Problems opening a newly created project

Open the Project Inspector and from there open any unit files into the
editor you want.

The File -> Close All menu item is completely removed in Lazarus trunk
because it was confusing and misleading. Your problems are also caused by
using it.
It did not close a project, it only closed source editors and package
editors.
