It is not a fair comparision since windows costs money :)

For newer versions if some functionality is needed we are using dynamic 
linking (look at gtkext package).

I am agree with you that we should stay on qt 4.5. Although if there 
will be something nice to have from the versions > 4.5 we will need to 
redecide. Maybe also using dynamic linking.
