Hmmmmmm. Let's see. Get FPC and Lazarus for free and it will work on
Win32, DOS, Linux, OS/2, 68K, and hopefully FreeBSD and Solaris soon. Or
pay some money any money for Delphi to work in Win32 & Linux. I don't
think there is any question that it will hurt their bottom line. Unless
they give theirs away free as well.

Ouch! That would not be defendable at all. They can just announce that
they never received such a request and you would have no grounds to
prove otherwise. Without written confirmation, on paper not an email, it
could be very costly to assume permission.
