that is most likely what happened... most folk do just tell FB (and others) to 
hit up their contact list and send the invite to everyone in it without thinking 
about the lists that they belong to... it isn't until after the fact, when they 
get flooded with complaints that the see their mistake even if they have seen it 
a hundred times before from others who have done the same thing...
