Thanks for this pointer!
THe zint project contains an exe file that can be used via the command
line to generate barcodes including QR. I have downloaded the exe and
manual and tested a bit and it seems to work OK.

The sources are also available (C++) but they operate with the Qt
graphics library so I guess there is a bit of a hurdle converting to
native FPC...
