[Lazarus] How do you use switch over from .lrs files to .res files in Lazarus

I want to switch to use .res files instead of .lrs files, but when I run the
program I get an error about no streaming method available and I need to
uncomment the references to the .lrs files in the sources to get the program
working again.

If you want to use .res files does Lazarus automatically generate them for
each form, or there some manual steps involved?
