It was blocked due to the patch not being Win9x compatible. AFAIK, after
a long discussion (I think on this ML) it has since been decided that

AFAIR, the patch we came up does work nicely.

Yes, there still is a bug in OpenDocument. Or perhaps there is indeed
some magical way to do this; if so, I'd appreciate somebody documenting
