This is not confirmed information but inference:

Synapse's copyright holder (original author) is Lukas Gebauer whose 
Sourceforge alias is 'Geby'.

If you look at the trunk in SF, you'll see that all the changes are made 
by 'geby'.

The last one was made in 2015-02-15.

So, unless Lukas turned over his alias and password to someone else, I 
would think he is still working on Synapse.
