Felipe,

You were right. It was the icon. With ttrayicon.xpm my dummy menu appears as a menu extra at the far right of the OS X menu bar, and is available even when the main program is minimized.

Now we just have to find an icon big enough to see. This .xpm is teeny, tiny on OS X too.

Ummm ... a quick google seams to show it should work.

One guess is that Qt support for .ico files is buggy. I would try a
.XPM file instead.
